Welcome to Harlaxton! I am loving it here. The weather is not horrible (yet) and I have made a lot of new friends. My trip getting over here was uneventful besides a small 20-30 min delay. On the plane ride from Dallas to London I had 4 other people on the flight going to Harlaxton with me. That was nice because it meant I didn't have to make it through London Heathrow by myself. I tried to sleep a little while I was on the plane but that didn't happen. Once I got to Heathrow it was more waiting for the shuttle to arrive, I did however sleep on the "coach" driving to Harlaxton. I felt like a zombie the rest of the day. Once I got to Harlaxton it was breath taking to see the manor (the picture above doesn't really do the manor justice). We have had High Dinner, lots of meetings and even exploring Grantham a little. I haven't really had any "culture shock" (yet) but I am waiting for it to really hit me. I have had fun adjusting to a new time zone though, it was rough for the first few days. I just stayed awake and didn't sleep. Exploring the castle has been amazing. There are secret passage ways that unlock and lock on given days. The doors are also different. My friend Julie and I where trying to get into the conservatory and we couldn't get the doors open. We tried pushing, pulling, and every other way but sliding. The doors slide open and we spent almost 20 min trying to figure out how to open the doors. I have taken a lot of pictures but these below are some of my favorites. They are from High dinner and exploring the castle.

The group of Ed majors plus one at High Dinner
Later that night a group of us went to the Bistro and then out to the bars (clubs) in Grantham. I had a lot of fun dancing and having a few drinks while I was out with my friends. It is a VERY different drinking culture. I hung out with new people and had a great time. I think that this is going to be a wonderful semester and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the ti
me that I am here.
